The Drake Oval Table by Clayson Design is thoughtfully proportioned for the way Europeans have furnished their homes for generations: beautifully, efficiently, and with careful attention to circulation. At 70 inches long and only 36 inches deep, the Drake provides an inviting dining surface without consuming unnecessary floor space.

Its elongated oval top comfortably accommodates four people for everyday dining and expands naturally to seat up to six when friends or family join the table. The gently rounded ends soften the room, eliminate visually heavy corners, and make it easier to move through compact dining areas, breakfast rooms, apartments, condominiums, and open-plan living spaces.

A warm honey finish highlights the natural movement and character of the ash veneer, bringing golden warmth to the room without appearing orange, rustic, or overly traditional. The tone coordinates beautifully with light oak, walnut, black, ivory, boucle, leather, linen, and natural woven materials.

Beneath the top, two sculptural pedestal bases transform the table into something genuinely memorable. Crafted from rubberwood, each tapered base is formed from a rhythmic sequence of vertical wooden slats. The open construction allows light to pass through, giving the table an architectural presence that feels substantial without becoming visually heavy.

Its 70-by-36-inch footprint is long enough to create a proper dining experience while remaining narrow enough for smaller rooms and more intimate floor plans. The oval perimeter visually softens the table and allows people to move around it more naturally than they might around a rectangular table with projecting corners.

For everyday dining, four chairs create a beautifully balanced arrangement with generous personal space. For gatherings, two additional chairs can be positioned at the rounded ends to accommodate up to six guests.

Sculptural Dual-Pedestal Design

The Drake’s two tapered pedestal bases are constructed from rubberwood slats arranged in a rhythmic, fluted pattern. The spacing between the individual wooden elements allows light and background color to remain visible, helping the table feel open and architectural.

Circular lower platforms visually ground each pedestal, while the tapered silhouette draws the eye upward toward the oval tabletop.

Unlike traditional four-leg tables, the dual-pedestal design eliminates projecting corner legs and provides greater flexibility when positioning chairs around the table.

Seating Capacity

The table is designed to accommodate up to six people. Seating capacity and comfort depend upon chair width, whether the chairs have arms, the size of place settings, and the amount of personal space desired.

Four chairs provide the most generous everyday arrangement. Six narrower dining chairs may be positioned around the table for additional seating.

Construction and Weight Capacity

The tabletop is constructed from MDF surfaced with ash veneer. The pedestal bases are constructed primarily from rubberwood.

The stated maximum load is 400 pounds. Weight should be distributed appropriately across the tabletop. The table is not designed to support people. Do not sit, stand, climb, or allow children to climb upon the tabletop or pedestal bases.

This table is fixed and non-extendable. It does not include an extension leaf.

Care and Maintenance

Wipe the table with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry it promptly. Clean spills immediately.

Do not use abrasive cleaners, harsh chemicals, scouring pads, bleach, silicone-based polish, or ammonia-based cleaning products.

Use coasters, placemats, trivets, and protective pads beneath hot, wet, sharp, abrasive, or heavily colored objects. Do not place hot cookware directly on the tabletop.

Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, excessive heat, standing moisture, and extreme changes in humidity. Do not drag objects across the surface.

Assembly

Assembly is required. Two adults are recommended for safe handling and installation.

Before assembly, verify that all components and hardware are present. Assemble the table on a clean, padded surface to protect the finish. Follow the supplied instructions carefully and tighten all connections securely without overtightening.

After assembly, place the table on a level surface and confirm that it is stable before use. Periodically inspect and retighten the hardware as necessary.

The table is packaged in two cartons.
